All year

During the year the traditional Swedish Saturday Vesper bell-ringing just before 6 pm will take place in seven churches painted by Albertus Pictor.
The first will take place on
January 3rd in Nederluleå kyrka on the outskirts of Luleå in Norrbotten.

The craftsmen of the organisation Kaleido will arrange an exhibition in Uppsala inspired by the paintings by Albertus Pictor.

January

Thursday 15th Historiska museet, The Museum of National Antiquities, Narvavägen, Stockholm at 6 pm: Medieval and Gregorian chants performed by the Choir Pisces Dei, conducted by Thomas Hammar.

Sunday 18th Storkyrkan, the Cathedral, and Tyska kyrkan, the German Church, in the Old Town of Stockholm, between 11 am and 3 pm: Inauguration of the 500th Anniversary of the medieval painter Albertus Pictor, a joint event of the Congregation of the Cathedral of Stockholm, The German Saint Gertrud Congregation, the German Embassy and the Committee for the Anniversary.

Sunday 25th Täby kyrka, Täby, suburb north of Stockholm at 4 pm: “Music painting life – chamber music below the vaults painted by Albertus Pictor”. The program will be repeated two more times during the spring.

Saturday 31st Helga Trefaldighets kyrka, Uppsala, at 4 pm: Inauguration of the Anniversary in Uppsala with a lecture by Pia Melin and Christina Sandquist Öberg.

February

All spring: The Cathedral of Uppsala, activities referring to Albertus Pictor, for children in the 4th grade.

Sunday 8th Lids kyrka, Lid, 20 km from Nyköping, Sörmland: Inauguration of the Anniversary in Lid:
At 3 pm the dramatic monologue The Wheel of Life written and performed by Vibeke Nielsen (in Swedish).
At 5 pm Release party at Salongen i Lid for the publication “The Church in Lid with Albertus Pictor” including a CD containing medieval organ music played by Jan Öberg.

Sunday 15th Täby kyrka, Täby, suburb north of Stockholm, at 7 pm: Lecture by Professor Christer Åsberg: The Painter Albert and the Church of Täby (in Swedish).

Sunday 15th Lids kyrka, Lid, 20 km from Nyköping, Sörmland: At 3 pm the dramatic monologue “The Wheel of Life” written and performed by Vibeke Nielsen followed by a service (in Swedish).

Friday 27th Vitterhetsakademien, The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, Villagatan, Stockholm: Symposium concerning the latest results of the research on the works by Albertus Pictor, Stockholm (in Swedish).

Friday 13th Salongen i Lid, Lid , 20 km from Nyköping, Sörmland: At 7 pm a lecture by BA Anders Eriksson (Nyköping) “Albertus Pictor and the Swedish Revolution – the Development of Sweden in the transit period between the Middle Ages and Modern Time - referring back to Sörmland and Lid”.

Sunday 22nd , in the Church of Lid, 20 km from Nyköping, Sörmland: At 6 pm The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. “The Teacher of the Apostles”, Sermon in Pictures, Music and Poetry referring to the Paintings by Albertus Pictor, performed by Ulf Hjertén and singers from the congregation.

Friday 27th the Albertus Pictor stamp will be released at the Philatelist Exhibition Norrphil at Täby Park Hotel, Täby. There will also be some activities in collaboration with Täby kyrka.

Vernissage: José Alejandro Restrepo’s videoinstallation Veronica. Medieval music performed by the ensemble Flos Filius.

Tuesday 7th Salongen i Lid at 7 pm: PhD Pia Melin (Stockholm University) gives a lecture on the Death Motif in the paintings by Albertus Pictor.

Sunday 14th Övergrans kyrka at 6 pm. Himlablomster – Mystery play about Albertus Pictor, enacted in the present time and the Middle Ages. 19th Husby-Sjutolft, at 7 pm. PISCES DEI – a small ensemble specialized in Medieval and Gregorian music. Their program is based on the paintings by Albertus Pictor.
August

5th – 9th Arboga, Västmanland: Various events inspired by the Middle Ages.

10th – 16th Sala sockenkyrka, Sala, Västmanland: The church is open between 10 am and 4 pm. Guided tours will be available, coffee will be served. Every evening there will be a short service, or an event of some kind.


21st Täby kyrka at 6 pm: Members, young and old, of the congregation of Täby present a medieval drama which depicts the church and parish of Täby AD 1488!

22nd – 23rd Täby kyrka, Täby, suburb north of Stockholm: Outside the church a medieval fair will be held. A medieval play will also be performed by candidates for confirmation in the congregation of Täby.

22nd – 23rd and 29th – 30th Karby gård, the Art Center of Täby: “Homage to Albertus Pictor”, exhibition by artists in Täby.

23rd Härkeberga at 7 pm: KORP – a musical play taking you on a trip to the world of Albertus Pictor, picturing both heaven and hell…
